چکیده

We solve second order relativistic hydrodynamics equations for a boost-invariant 1+1dimensional expanding fluid with an equation of state taken from lattice calculations of the thermodynamics of strongly coupled quark-gluon plasma. We investigate the dependence of the energy density as a function of proper time on the values of the shear viscosity η, the bulk viscosity ζ , and second order coefficients, confirming that large changes in the values of the latter have negligible effects. Varying the shear viscosity between zero and a few times s/4π, with s the entropy density, has significant effects, as expected based on other studies. Introducing a nonzero bulk viscosity also has significant effects. In fact, if the bulk viscosity peaks near the crossover temperature Tc to the degree indicated by recent lattice calculations in QCD without quarks, it can make the fluid cavitate — falling apart into droplets. It is interesting to see a hydrodynamic calculation predicting its own breakdown, via cavitation, at the temperatures where hadronization is thought to occur in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions.

General relativistic hydrodynamic flows around a static compact object in final stages of accretion flow

Dynamics of stationary axisymmetric configuration of the viscous accreting fluids surrounding a non-rotating compact object in final stages of accretion flow is presented here. For the special case of thin disk approximation, the relativistic fluid equations ignoring self-gravity of the disk are derived in Schwarzschild geometry. For two different state equations, two sets of self-consistent an...

Second order hydrodynamics of a CFT plasma from boost invariant expansion

We compute finite coupling correction to a nonlinear second order hydrodynamic coefficient in the boost invariant expansion of the N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills plasma. The result is universal for a large class of strongly coupled four dimensional conformal gauge theories.

Observation of conformal symmetry breaking and scale invariance in expanding Fermi gases.

We precisely test scale invariance and examine local thermal equilibrium in the hydrodynamic expansion of a Fermi gas of atoms as a function of interaction strength. After release from an anisotropic optical trap, we observe that a resonantly interacting gas obeys scale-invariant hydrodynamics, where the mean square cloud size = expands ballistically (like a noninteracting gas) an...

Viscosity and boost invariance at RHIC and LHC

We consider the longitudinal hydrodynamic evolution of the fireball created in a relativistic heavy-ion collision. Nonzero shear viscosity reduces the colling rate of the system and hinders the acceleration of the longitudinal flow. As a consequence, the initial energy density needed to reproduce the experimental data at RHIC energies is significantly reduced. At LHC energies, we expect that sh...
